Don Bosco AITEC Dodoma, Tanzania
Don Bosco AITEC Dodoma was established in 2020 with implementation of an Agricultural Training, Demonstration and Research (TDR) site at the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Dodoma, Tanzania.
The program was established in partnership with Water4Mercy, a USA based non-profit organization that supports water and agricultural development in Tanzania.
The AITEC operates as a central mechanism for agricultural development and for transferring technology and developing knowledge. The AITEC is a medium sided farm that enables regional access to improved agricultural inputs, mechanization, supply chains, access to knowledge and has impacts on value chains.
The 6-acre (~2.5 hectare) site functions as the base for the Don Bosco’s practical training program, demonstrating Israeli technology and conducting research. The site is equipped with drip irrigation, sprinklers, greenhouses, a seedling nursery, fruit trees, and a vineyard.
The AITEC aims to promote sustainability, food security, dissemination and adoption of appropriate technologies and capacity building programs. The program strengthens the Don Bosco Dodoma Technical and Vocational Institute, Dodoma, Tanzania to provide the highest quality education in agriculture serving regional capacity building
