Surveyor -Tanzania

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surveyor to join our agricultural non-governmental organization (NGO). As a surveyor, you will play a crucial role in collecting accurate data related to agricultural markets, crop production, and rural communities. Your work will directly contribute to informed decision-making and sustainable development initiatives. 

 

Responsibilities:

Recruitment

  1. Market Surveys:
    1. Develop the questionnaire and design the      survey for the project.
    2. Review and test the tools before they go to the field. 
    3. Identify the sampling group to be surveyed. 
    4. Conduct field surveys in various agricultural markets (local and regional) to gather data on crop prices, supply and demand, market trends, and consumer preferences.
    5. Interact with farmers, traders, and other stakeholders to collect relevant information.
    6. Record data accurately and efficiently using digital tools.
  2. Data Collection and Entry:
    1. Conduct and enter survey data into databases and spreadsheets.
    2. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and proper formatting of collected data.
    3. Data analysis, interpretation, and reporting of the findings.
  3. Community Engagement:
    1. Build relationships with local communities, understanding their needs and challenges also relationship building with the local government in the project operation.      
  4. Report Writing:
    1. Prepare concise reports summarizing survey results, trends, and recommendations.
    2. Present findings to project managers.
  5. Collaboration:
    1. Collaborate closely with other team members, including researchers, economists, and project coordinators.
    2. Participate in project planning and evaluation meetings.
  6. Perform other   operational activities as assigned by the   manager. 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Data science or related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Data collection, interpretation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Willing to work in the remote areas, willing to travel outside Dodoma.
  • Trustworthy person with.
  • Willing to Demonstrate the previous related project he/she did before.
  • Available to start first week of April.
  • He or she must have excellent computer skills, competent in Excel, SPSS and familiar with Data tools.
  • Must have a personal computer.

Language skills

  • Good command in both English and Swahili -Must
  • Good interpersonal communication skills -Must
