Country Director – Ethiopia

Country Director – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

CultivAid is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Country Director to lead our operations in Ethiopia. The ideal candidate will bring 2-3 years of comprehensive project management experience in the agricultural sector or in civil infrastructure, coupled with technical expertise, and a hands-on attitude.
This role reports directly to the CEO and can be either in full relocation conditions or based in Israel with bi-weekly visits to Ethiopia per month.

Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Oversee end-to-end project management activities, ensuring the successful execution of agricultural initiatives in Ethiopia.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams, ensuring adherence to industry best practices.

Collaboration and Innovation:

  • Collaborate with local teams and communities to address challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and foster innovation.
  • Cultivate a positive work environment that encourages collaboration and continuous improvement.

International Adaptability

  • Navigate diverse cultures and understand the unique challenges faced in international agricultural settings.
  • Work effectively in a multi-nationality environment, promoting inclusivity and cultural sensitivity within the organization.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Utilize previous managerial experience to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of professionals.

Government Relations:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with government functions, actively participating in negotiations and collaborations.
  • Stay informed about relevant policies and regulations affecting the agricultural sector in Ethiopia.

Effective Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and government officials.

Team Management:

  • Hire, lead and manage two main groups of professional local employees, including in-house recruitments and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, Business Administration, or Agronomy – Required
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in A-Z project management (with a budget of at least 500,000 NIS in the agricultural sector or civil infrastructure) – required
  • Proven experience in managerial roles – Required
  • Ability to work in a multiple nationality work environment – Required
